Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Moment: Screen Time Guard ("Moment", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you use the app.
Summary
Moment is designed to be local-first. The app uses Apple's Screen Time and Family Controls features so you can select apps or categories to shield, configure a pause, and view usage summaries. Moment does not run its own user account system and does not sell personal information. Screen Time selections and usage summaries stay on your device, while app-store purchases, support messages, and ads may involve the third-party services described below.
Information Moment Handles
- Screen Time authorization status, selected app/category/web-domain tokens, shield status, unlock policy, pending unlocks, and active unlock windows.
- Device Activity usage summaries, including daily totals, hourly totals, and category totals shown inside the app.
- Local preferences such as whether you dismissed the share prompt or rating prompt.
- Purchase status if you buy or restore an in-app purchase such as Remove Ads.
- Ad-related information that may be processed by Google AdMob when ads are requested, such as IP address, approximate location derived from IP address, device or advertising identifiers, crash and performance data, advertising data, and app or ad interaction data.
- Messages and contact details you choose to send when requesting support.
How Information Is Used
Moment uses this information to apply shields, grant temporary unlocks, display usage summaries, remember your settings, restore purchases, and respond to support requests. Ad-related information may be used by Google for ad delivery, measurement, fraud prevention, analytics, and advertising-related purposes. The app's debug-only analytics currently log to the local development console and are not sent to an external analytics service.
Local Storage
Moment stores Screen Time selections, usage cache, policy settings, prompt state, and unlock state on your device using app-group storage so the main app and Screen Time extensions can work together. Removing the app deletes app-owned local data from the device according to iOS and iPadOS behavior.
Third-Party Services
Moment includes in-app purchase support. Purchases are processed by the Apple App Store under Apple's terms and privacy policy. Moment may receive purchase status or transaction identifiers needed to unlock purchased features.
Moment uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK to support banner ads. When ads are requested, Google may process device, advertising, diagnostic, location, and interaction data for ad delivery, measurement, fraud prevention, analytics, and related purposes. You can learn more in Google's advertising and privacy materials at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Privacy Choices
iOS may ask whether you allow tracking before an app can access the advertising identifier for tracking. You can change this choice in iOS Settings. Where required by law or platform policy, Moment or Google may also show consent or privacy-choice prompts before requesting ads.
Sharing
Moment does not sell personal information. We may share information only when needed to provide app-store purchases, show and measure ads, comply with law, protect users or the service, or process support requests that you initiate.
Retention and Deletion
Local app data remains on your device until you change settings, disable shields, clear or remove the app, or the operating system removes the data. Support messages are retained only as long as needed to respond and maintain reasonable support records. Data processed by Apple or Google is handled under their privacy practices. See Data Choices for deletion instructions.
Children
Moment is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information through support, contact us so we can delete it.
International Use
If you contact support, your message may be processed in the United States or other locations where service providers operate.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app changes. The "Last updated" date shows when the policy was most recently revised.
